Synevyr National Nature Park

Synevyr National Nature Park

Synevyr National Nature Park

About the Park

Synevyr lake is the largest mountain lake in Ukraine. Although this is certainly the highlight of the park, it is worth visiting not only because of this reservoir. There are amazing mountains, crystal clear waterfalls, rivers and lakes, protected wetlands, and virgin forests which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List there.

Rehabilitation Centers for Brown Bears and Birds of Prey, unique for Ukraine, are open to visitors here. Out in the wild, in addition to bears, you can find wolves, lynxes, deer, and roe deer. Here, the capercaillies and hazel hens nest in spruce forests, white and black storks fly over peat bogs, and golden eagles fly high in the sky.

One more reason to come to Synevyr is to get acquainted with the soul of the Carpathians – the local culture. In the Museum of Forest and Rafting, which is the only one in Europe, and the second one in the world, you can see the tools of wood smelters, as well as get acquainted with the life and traditions from three hundred years ago in the “Old Village” Museum. You can also visit the Arpad Line defensive bunkers used by the Hungarian army in World War II.
